“What manner of Man is this?”

A Prayer in the Storms of Life

“What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him,” they said.

Jesus, your disciples stood in awe of your power to rebuke the raging storm.

Jesus, you are the image of the invisible God, you created all things in heaven and in earth and you existed before all things. Creator God, you became the perfect man. The perfect Lamb of God sacrificed for sin. By your shed blood you have reconciled all things and we have peace with God. By faith in your sacrificial death, we have redemption and forgiveness of sin.

Yes, you calm the raging storms of life. Rescued us from drowning in sin. Left us with your Spirit, the same Spirit that raised you from the dead. By faith we are children of God and your Spirit dwells in us. Awesome! Soon you will restore our bodies and the earth–the curse of sin will be completely healed.

So, while we wait, we come before your throne and cry, “Father God, speak now to the storm.”

And you give peace.
